Enroll A Child

SJMA is a free after school music program for children that is funded by donations from generous donors.  If you or someone you know is interested in enrolling a child at our academy please review our application criteria and if eligible apply using the links below.   If you would like to support us, explore our website to learn more about ways that you can help us.

Criteria for Enrollment and Bursary Funds at SJMA:

1. We currently enroll new students from grades 2-4 in our Junior Program, and from grades 5-9 in our Senior Program (Once Enrolled students can continue through until grade 12).   Continuing musicians can start at any age up to Grade 12.

2. Priority for enrollment is given to children from families that are considered low-income.  However, we do enroll a small percentage of students from middle and higher-income families who can afford to contribute monthly.

3. New students should attend a local VSB school, or live on the east side of Vancouver.    Exceptions for students outside our catchment can be made so email us with details if you would like to be considered.

4. If from a low-income family, we will fund-raise to provide your child with a bursary for music lessons that costs us (not you) on average $3000 a year. In exchange, families must make a year-long commitment to the program (34 weeks from mid September to mid June for their first year), and respect the program like a regular school day (ie it is not a drop-in, and families will not sign up their children for conflicting after-school programs).
